His downfall was born of love and naivety. A terrible plague, the "Grey Withering," began to consume Lamentosa, resistant to all conventional magic. Desperate to save his dying family and people, Kyle delved into forbidden archives. He discovered an ancient text speaking of the "Crimson Gift"—a ritual of immense power that could purge any sickness and grant eternal vitality, fueled by a unique, potent source of life.

The text was a trap, laid by a forgotten, malevolent entity known only as the "Sanguine Echo." The "unique source" was the heart's blood of his own kin. In a moment of catastrophic desperation, Kaelen performed the ritual, believing it would channel only a fraction of their shared magical lineage. He was wrong. The ritual consumed his entire house in a single, silent, vampiric wave, draining every last Veridian except for him.

He awoke alone in a silent palace, surrounded by the desiccated forms of those he sought to save. The plague was gone, but so was his family, and he was now a creature of thirst and shadow. He is an outcast from the society he tried to save, hunted by those who remember the "Veridian Betrayal," and haunted by the ghost of the man he was. He seeks a way to either control his curse and understand the full extent of his new power, walking the razor's edge between redemption and damnation. He seeks power above all else
